3D TV in AE
Posted by Jeffczyz on November 14, 2006 at 1:38 amI was looking at some of the templates at AEProjects.com and saw the 3D TV template. Based on the description, it seems like you can move the AE camera around the TV’s in AE.
So, my question is, how can I get a 3D TV object inside of AE?

November 14, 2006 at 2:02 amIt looks as if it was created with Digital Anarchy’s 3D assistants. You might be able to do the same thing with the free 3D assistants lite plug in AE 6.5, but not in AE7, as the lite plug doesn’t come with AE7, nor can it be transferred to 7.

November 14, 2006 at 2:13 amYep.. It looks like that, but what about the TV itself? Is there a way to import that into AE? I think I’m missing something…

November 14, 2006 at 2:24 amIt looks as if each TV is created by using other layers for the sides and top/bottom, in the same way you can make a cube in AE by taking 6 layers and butting them up against each other. With expressions and parenting you could set up something like that tower.
The only other way to get a 3D cube (hexahedron, technically) is to use Zaxwerks Invigorator, Shatter or maybe Conoa. And I don’t think those were used here.

November 16, 2006 at 12:12 amI’m running out of luck on trying to find the images to put together a cube of images to create a TV. I don’t have a 3d app, not the skills to build my own.
Does anyone know of a place to find images of all angles of a tv?

November 16, 2006 at 5:15 amWhy don’t you shoot one with a digital camera? Or just use black solids, since for most CRTs, there are no details on the top, bottom and sides.
