AE CS4 to AVID
Good morning.
I’ve been doing some research on the topic of an AE-AVID Workflow, and as far as I have seen, there actually is a way to import and export from AE to AVID… but since AE CS6. I’m working with AE CS4 and I don’t see a chance to upgrade any sooner, so I’d need to know if there is any way to import a project from AVID to AE, work in AE and then export it back to AVID.

Exporting to Avid is just a matter of rendering a flattened video of your timeline in a DNxHD codec and AMA linking to it in Avid and then consolidating. Importing a timeline from Avid to AE is usually done by creating a AAF file in Avid which AE will use to create a timeline and find the video that goes along with it. I’m not sure if v4 will work with Automatic Duck utilities, but they are free now so try this one. https://automaticduck.com/products/piae/

the automatic duck plugin Lee linked should work for you, I’ve been using it for years with Avid/AE. Here’s a tutorial on the work flow, that it is for CS6, but is pretty much the same for CS4.
