Sound wont render??
Posted by Nathan on June 23, 2006 at 5:52 pmJust as it says, I am rendering out to Quicktime (animation setting). Everything set to best quality. But my sound (which is on the bottom layer) is not present in the quicktime. Any ideas or advice? I combed the help files and found nothing,

June 23, 2006 at 6:17 pmThis is probably obvious to you, but did you check the audio checkbox at the bottom of the output module? This checkbox is required to be checked if you want to have audio output with your video.

June 23, 2006 at 6:22 pmIt may be as simple as a checkbox.
In the Render Queue, Click on the Output Module, where it says in Blue : Lossless, Bases on Lossless, or QuickTime.
This opens the Output Module Settings Box.Is the “Audio Output” checked?
Choose the flavor you want.Choose the flavor you want.
Otherwise, is the little speaker turned off for the layer providing the audio? Hit the “.” (period) key on the numeric pad to hear the sound for the comp (it plays from wherever you are on the timeline.

June 23, 2006 at 7:14 pmWe all make that mistake sooner or later.
On the upside, to save time, you can import your rendered quicktime to AE and just put the audio in the same comp and re-render together. it will go much faster then a stadard render.
this should only be done if you rendered uncompressed (or animation compression) – otherwise you will lose video quality from one compressed video to the next.

June 23, 2006 at 8:39 pmaaawww man, didnt know you could do that….lol. Already over halfway into the new render. These are gems of knowledge you can bet I wont forget.
One last question. It doesnt matter which layer the sound is on right? Mine is on the bottom layer. Wont effect the output right?
Many thanks guys

June 23, 2006 at 8:51 pmnope. Stack order for audio doesn’t matter – you should be fine.

June 23, 2006 at 10:17 pmUnless of course you’ve got expressions that use a layer’s ‘index’ in their calculations or even if they use random numbers.

June 23, 2006 at 10:20 pmOK you got me.
But to be fair, based on the previous posts, I’d venture to guess (and possibly place a bet) that this isn’t the case for Nathan.
But it proves a point. Never say never.
Thanks.
