I started coming here last year when I was working on cinematics for a video game. But I quit the company early on in the year and haven’t used AE up until now. I’m working on my own animated short, but I’ve forgotten what little I learned about Expressions in AE.

Would someone like to post a simple expression that will make an image jitter for me?

    Greatly appreciated if you could!

    Cheers.

Wiggle expressions are good. For a sample project, go to the Adobe Studio Exchange and check out the “Expressing Your Wiggle” project.

    yo

    simply type: wiggle(4,50,3)

the numbers are of course for you to make out. the first one (4) is the frequenty of the jiggle (or wiggle), the second one (50) is the amount, the third one (3) is for you to find out, i keep it on 3 usually.

the best thing about this expression, is that you can still use keyframes to position and animate your layer.

    have fun

Excellent! Cheers guys. I will drop by the link but I’m pasting the wiggle in now.

Looks great! I’m actually not sure what the third number does. A higher value seems to make it jerk less?

    Cheers.

If you use a decimal (?!?) number for the frequency (0.7 for example)
you’ll get a nice and easy drift.

This looks cool when applied to a 3D null parented to a camera (with some 3D objects of course)
it gives the camera a “breathing” feel.

    enjoy.

    cheers
