  • Generating parallax effects from old stereograms

Posted by Thomas Hannen on July 8, 2014 at 2:03 pm

    Hi,

Does anyone know of the best way to generate a small amount of 3D parallax effect from a pair of stereoscopic images (offset images, like those found in a Viewmaster)
    like these:

I’d like to be able to process two offset images, and create a virtual camera in AE, which can then move a small amount to create the illusion of depth..

Is there a way of doing this automatically, without having to isolate each plane in the image and re-project it?

    Thanks,
    Tom

This kind of work usually happens with some pretty specialized tools for calculating and using stereoscopic disparity: NUKE plus OCULA, or maybe Fusion plus Dimension.

Maybe this is possible in Ae with YUVsoft’s 2D-to-3D system?
