  youtube video correct export ?

  Hi,

  I’ve been asked to edit a few youtube vids for a friend.
  They do not have originals so I’ve downloaded them from youtube with YTD.
  Made a few edits in After Effects CS6 & now wish to render them ready for youtube upload.
  I’m aware that by this stage they have already been compressed a lot & would like to prevent further compression as much as possible.

  So my question is this –
  What would be the recommended settings to render out the vids in AE CS6 ?
  I also have Media Encoder.

  Probably the best method, would be to make an uncompressed .avi or .mov. Then bring that uncompressed file into Media Encoder and find the Youtube preset that matches your current spec(1080/24p, use the Format h.264 Preset Youtube 1080 24p) . Doing it this way you can make multiple files and have a rendered uncompressed master.

  Otherwise, I would open Media Encoder, import the AE comp and render straight from that to the youtube preset of choice. If you have to make multiple files(trying different presets) this method would be slower, but if only doing one, it might be faster.

  Me, I always make an Master file of everything so I would choose option 1.
