I’ve just started using After Effects 5 and I’m looking for a how-to book I can use to teach myself all I need to know. Any recommendations?

I took a two-day class a few years ago, and was loaned an instructional cd that’s great but doesn’t go far enough. My background is as an avid editor who’s blundered around in photoshop a little bit.

    Thanks!

I’m sure everyone here will suggest the series by Chris & Trish Meyer. These books are totally awesome

I second Mr. Duff’s recommendation. I had been a Combustion user for a few years when it became obvious that our parent company was going to standardize on After Effects. Granted, I was already a power user with Combustion, a compositing package, but within a couple of months of picking up “Motion Graphics with After Effects”, by Chris and Trish Meyer, I was up to speed, and able to do most of the projects that were thrown at me. Buy the book and never look back!

I totally agree regarding the Meyers’ books.
That said I would definately buy the Total Training DVD’s if you have the cash.
