  Best way to smooth a zoom-in shot

  Hi there,

  I have this shot where I tried to make a “top dolly-in shot”, that due to low budget was just a zoom in shot. However, my zoom-in was terribly uneven and I’m trying to somehow fix it. I thought using warp stabilizer (only used it at its basic settings, though) but doesn’t seem to apply to this situation, doesn’t do much.

  you might have some luck with ae’s warp stabilizer, if not, here’s some other options.

  1. you can precomp it, add timewarp 50%, then timestretch the precomp 50%. This smooths out the bumps.

  2. virtualdub’s deshaker is free and in 2 clicks you have perfect pans, tilts, rotations, zooms. It will do bicubic resampling and edge zoom compensations. Also supports widescreen and hdv.
  Stabilizes horizontal/vertical panning, rotation and zooming.
