  • Keying with R3D’s

Is it better to key with the raw R3D’s or ProRes 4444 transcodes?
I’ve heard the r3d’s can give noise from the debaying.
    I’ve had mixed results.
R3D’s are more crisp in detail before keying, but slow to render.
ProRes 4444 renders faster out of AE and plays back easier.
More importantly is which is better with the noise and clean key with the two codecs.

Noise is not really a property of the format in this case.

The R3Ds had to be de-bayered to generate the ProRes 4444 files in the first place. Whether the ProRes 4444 file are cleaner for keying or not totally depends on how they were processed from R3D.
