Doubt with Mocha
Posted by Xdominguez Pukkas on October 24, 2013 at 1:34 pmHello,
I need to put a picture on a square frame in a video. There is movement, for which I need to use corner pin. Well, I have tracked the shoot with mocha and I am having the following problem: back on AE, the picture gets deformed every time I apply the txt, and I can’t find a way of solving this.
I am using mocha import’s trial version, if it is of any importance.
Thank you for the help.

October 25, 2013 at 6:06 pmHi there.. I would need more info to help solve your issue. Try this:
First, you need to make sure that mocha tracking looks good within mocha by turning on the blue surface icon. This blue rectangle represents the corner pin data. If your track does not line up at this step, you need to fix the mocha track. If good, continue…
Next, export your corner pin data directly to AE (for now bypass the mochaImport script) to trouble shoot. Simply copy the corner pin for AE to clipboard.
Next, in AE create a solid that is the same size as your comp and footage. Paste the corner pin to this. Does it line up?
If it does not line up, your issue is either frame rate, pixel aspect OR your insert layer is not the same size as the comp.
There are many tutorials online at https://www.imagineersystems.com/videos to help troubleshoot.
Hope this helps.

Anyway, I have tried what you have said, and the comp doesn’t line up. All the parameters are correct, so i guess I am doing something wrong from Mocha.

October 28, 2013 at 2:43 pmThe best way to help is send your a copy of your project to Imagineer Systems support. https://www.imagineersystems.com/company/contact_form
Re-reading your original post, are you trying to apply corner pin tracking to a text layer? If this is the case, than you would need to pre-comp the text layer, than apply the track data. Because of the way the AE corner pin effects works, the inserts should be the same size as composition.
There is a more advanced way to “set the surface to full frame” by using “align to surface button” before export in mocha, but I would focus on the simpler method to solve your issue.
Good luck,

No, it is not a text, but a photo.
Thanks for the help.
