  Rendering in After Effects

  I’m working on a large project in After Effects (a lot of photos and videos within a motion graphics project).

  As I get further into this project, rendering is becoming more of an issue.

  I can no longer render the entire project—only sections will be rendered. If I move on to the next section, the prior section will no longer be rendered. Basically, I can only watch chunks of my project.

  This is only my 3rd AE project so I assume I’m doing something incorrectly. I just don’t know what :/

  First, do you mean rendering (final output) or RAM Previewing (testing within After Effects)? If you’re testing within After Effects, you can set your composition view to half size/half res (or lower!) to reduce the memory requirements. You can also RAM Preview every other frame instead of every frame (shift-0 on the numeric keypad) to get yourself more frames. Also, set your work area to just the part you’re working on/testing rather than trying to watch the entire project every single time.
