Suggestions: generate procedurally ‘tiger stripes’
Posted by Eric Chard on July 20, 2013 at 11:15 pmI’d like to generate black and white ‘tiger stripes’ within AE, and I’d like to do it procedurally.
I tried a number of approaches, no luck so far. Suggestions?
Thanks!

July 20, 2013 at 11:43 pmHi Eric, You might try Fractal Noise. I did this is a couple minutes with the settings below applied to a solid in Multiply mode over an orange solid background layer. Since you just want them black and white you could just use Fractal Noise on a solid. Play around with the settings and you might get something you like.

If you find that you’re really close to what you want, but want a few tweaks, just use the Brainstorm tool, select the variable(s) you want to use to change the look, and then click away – you’ll get numerous variations with no heavy lifting.

I’m glad you get something out of my blog. I’ll avoid the self-aggrandizement here and not put a link in this. I try to post stuff that either distills a lot of information other sites are discussing, or helps others in our business out. The COW has given me more information, and solved more problems than any amount of tech support ever could have, in a shorter space of time.
