  24psf or 23.98psf hpx3700

  Hey Everyone

  So I am a bit puzzled over the whole segmented frame thing, I’ve been reading up on it, and still have headaches over it. But my question is I’m thinking of shooting some footage on the new p2 varicam the hpx3700 and I want to have the image come close to film as possible, I know of the gamma settings and stuff but I am confused on either choosing 24psf or 23.98psf. Is there a difference? The main target would be going to blu ray and I’m not sure, if blu ray does either one of these.

  Paulo here is my explanation of PsF.

  Video in North America is based on the NTSC drop frame timebase of 29.97.

  23.98 is the easiest frame rate to choose to allow for REALTIME playback on displays that were designed to handle NTSC frame rates. 24.0 will cause post issues if you monitor on a CRT or if you need to do realtime downconversions to NTSC.

  Lastly the vast majority of BluRay content is currently delivered at 1080 59.94.
