I know this is the Varicam forum, but I didnt know if this should go here or the hdx/hvx forum.

My question is, can the sdx-900 letterbox the output through the video/monitor out ports?

Im shooting 16:9 and I wanted to dub what I shot out to VHS (I know, I know…why vhs) but I dont want it to be squeezed, and looking through the manual I didnt see anything about letterboxing so Im assuming that it CANNOT letterbox on output, I just didnt want to assume since we all know what assuming does. I just wanted to hear it from someone who knows for sure.

    thanks for your help.

You’d need a 16:9 switchable display or box for that- it only sends out anamorphic 16:9 afaik.

    Thought:

Camera to DVD Recored set for 16:9 then out to the VCR, with the DVD set to a 4:3 TV.

Personally I would just record to DVD and send a cheap DVD to my client.
