Wasn’t sure if I should be posting this on the Avid forum or here. I’m trying to configure an HD1400 to downconvert DVCPRO 1080i/59.94 to DV25 30i via the ieee port and into Media Composer.

In my first attempts, I was able to get Avid to see and control the deck, but the picture was just noise (and no audio).

I tried Media Composer at a 1080i format and could finally see picture, but Avid kept freezing and I have to force reboot.

Now, no matter how I configure the HD1400, I keep getting an E-92 message, no matter how many times I disconnect and reconnect ieee and reboot the deck.

The settings I’m dancing with right now are:

    892 (set to 2)

    894 (set to 2)

    895 (set to 1)

    896 (set to 1)

I think I’ve tried every combination of these settings and can’t get rid of the E-92 error now. I’m about three steps from grabbing a hammer, so I think I’ll take a break.

    Hope someone can help me!

    Thanks a lot,

    James

Well, the answer is this deck does NOT downsample via ieee as it advertises. I’ve tested, tried every possible configuration, talked with a Panny tech and all to no avail.

I’ve also heard of others having the exact same problem with the 1200.

Worse, though, this thing barely functions with Media Composer doing straight DVCPRO 1080i via the ieee. It creates constant errors, constant freezes and you spend more time rebooting.

I never say this stuff lightly, but this thing is a piece of junk. Avoid at all cost, unless you have a Mojo w/ your Media Composer and you’re having an online facility doing the final full-res capture, so they can deal with the headaches.

Gotta give credit to Sony. I’ve done hundreds of hours with XDCAM without a hiccup.
