Has anyone had a problem with noise and zaggy patterns in dark areas of the frame when using a modulus video transmitter with the Varicam? I had noticed the problem before but it never seemed to go to tape, just on the HD-SDI out. The other day I was doing a night interior and after one take it seemed to stick to the tape so I moved the transmitter and the problem went away.

Set up is – Varicam, Bartech FF, AJA downconverter, modulus 3000. The Aja is velcroed to the back of the battery, the bartech reciever is on the rods, and the modulus is on the back of the Aja. All of these things are powered from a break out box from the power-tap connector on the battery bracket.

Anyone else seen this before? Anyone at panasonic have any thoughts?

    Thanks,

I’ve heard of this happening too. One of my buddies at a corporate video dept had this happen with camera. They just stopped using their Modulus. I’ve not had trouble with my unit. It might be positioning.

Have you also tried different channels to see if it’s a certain frequency?

    Hi,

Glad to hear that I am not the only one. Changing channels had no visable impact. I suspect that the interference is happening before the A to D conversion because it is a very analouge noise pattern not digital (ie not pixels and banding, hits etc).

I’d be very interested in anyone’s opinion with tech knowlege.

    Cheers,
