Help. Anton Bauer Charger just died, does it have a fuse
I know this isn’t really a Varicam question…. although I am shooting on the Varicam.
It seems that the fuse has blown on the Anton Bauer quad charger. Does anyone have any experience with changing the fuse? It must be located inside the charger…. (it’s not on the outside). -

Where you using it as a power supply? With monitor on board? Does it smell burnt?

I plugged it into the wall outlet to charge the batteries (I wasn’t using it to power the camera directly).
I’m in the UK (so I was using an adapter)… but it was a quality adapter and I know the Anton Bauer battery chargers and equipment can be used in US/UK ect… no problem.
The charger beeped and then died. No burning smell. I’m sure it’s a fuse or blown chip…The biggest problem is that at the time I was in OXFORD (which is 2 hours outside of London in the countryside). Not to mention is was Sunday. I wasn’t able to get batteries until the following afternoon and as a result missed an interview and some b-roll.
I ended up having to us block batteries with a long three pin power cord.I COULDN’T find the anton bauer batteries at any of the UK vendors.
In fact I was surpised to learn that not only did Arri Focus not carry the batteries but they didn’t even carry VARICAMS!I wan’t to figure out how to avoid this type of thing in the near future. I’m actually going to be shooting in China for 10 days and am realizing that something like this could be devastating for the shoot. I think instead of ONE quad charger I’ll bring two dual chargers (that way if one fails I’ve got a back up). Wish we could afford to double up on everything…but we can’t. You wouldn’t happen to know of any camera/grip/lighting houses in China would you?

I had the same thinbg happen in China actually,on the last day of the shoot,took the cover off in complete desperation(dont know a thing about chargers) pushed all the plug cables in and the thing worked!
But yes I think the answer is to take two chargers,esp in somewhere like China,although you,d think the UK would have Bauer chargers!!.Or at least a separate AC power supply so you can shoot something.
I know for 16mm we would often take a use once only lithium battery,although you never really knew how much you would get out of them.
I have one 4 X charger for home,and 2 separate 2X for the road.Just in case. -
Yeah I was shocked that they didn’t have ‘standard’ three prong Anton Bauers. I’m sure someone in the UK has them… it’s just that we needed them IMMEDIATELY. We ended up using this big block batteries that were encased in small ‘rock -n- roll’ cases. It was a little comical. Anyway lesson learned. Anything we can afford to double up on we will.

Yes wouldnt it be great to bring 2 of everything! Charge double the rate,and an army of assistants to carry it all!plus large amounts of Gin.
