    Hi All

We’ve been running some tests with the new HDX 900 camera, 1400 deck and Final Cut Pro. Our ultimate goal is to import 1080 24 material via firewire into Final Cut Pro.

We used easy set up in Final Cut and chose DVCPRO HD – 1080pA24.

Following the instructions on page 31 of the 1400 manual, we set the system frequency to 23/24 to allow 1080/23.98 over 59.94. As soon as we changed the system frequency from 59/60 to 23/24, Final Cut stopped seeing input video (control over firewire remained)

Switching back to 59/60, we could digitize, but not at 23.98. What are we missing here?

    Cheers

The 23/24 setting is strictly for HD-SDI output. It is not for use with firewire. FCP should have a setting in the easy set-up to remove the extra frames on import so you can get 1080 24p (aka 23.98). This is asuming you shot 24pA.

    Thanks Chris

I don’t think the tests were shot 24pA, I’ll look into that tomorrow.

I am getting ready to something similar.Shooting HDX900 and using HD1400 and Final Cut via Firewire.
I am trying to determine the settings I want to use before I shoot a frame of video.
    I am debating between 1080/29.97P or 720/29.97P
Will there be any issues with firewire or any other gotchas with this?
How well does the “in camera” 1080 upconversion work from the 720 native chips? Does it look better than the native 720?
