Is there such a thing? Like the Fuji HA16X6.3 or the Canon HJ11x4.7 WITHOUT an extender. Don’t the manufacturers get the fact than an extender on an HD lens just makes it a long length SD lens that’s too front heavy? Is a special order like this even possible?

    Richard,

Most ENG style lenses, HD included, are available either with or without the “doubler”, but the doubler per se does not deteriorate the image that much or weigh that much. The front mounted wide angle and tele “extenders” do weigh alot and throw the balance off, in addition to deteriorating the image, but there are different animals.

You should be able to order any lens without the extender. You are correct, i does lengthen and move the center of gravity forward, and it does effect image quality when engadged. Personaly, I find them very newsy and feel they have no place on a cine style camera. Then again, I think it slightly insane to spend $20K on a lens and then hold the camera by it (the servo handgrip on eng lenses).
