On the capture side- since your footage is already on tape and compressed to DVCPROHD there is zero to be gained by recapturing it to HD-SDI. It will be identical quality capturing over Firewire. On the export side- an uncompressed image sequence or a QuickTime 10-bit Uncompress .mov would get you the maximum quality of output. The only time an uncompressed capture improves a signal from Varicam is when you capture it live off the camera’s inputs- before it is compressed onto the tape.

Color correction on that world. Output to film.”
IF you are talking about a true output to film, you should not work in a compressed format for anything other than offline. Because of the anamorphic nature of the compressed format you are asking for a nightmare for color correction and conform. especially when you convert the DVCPROHD to a still sequence.
Stay in uncompressed 720p as long as you can, at 24p the data is only about 50% more data than SD content is and you will avoid a large amount of problems when it sounds as if there are not many people accustomed to working in compressed HD content.

First no colorist I know wants to work with anything that has compression on it, not for a filmout, not ever. you will also have to deal with the frame size- those exported tiffs will be 960×720 the native frame size of DVCPROHD, and need to go thru a secondary scaling, but would be full raster 1280×720 from the 8bit UC material.
These things may cause you issues and they may charge extra for the additional processing.gary adcock
