Activity Forums Panasonic Cameras Regen TC

    Hi there

using the varicam the other day,I wanted to put back in a tape I,d been shooting at 25p,after shooting some scenes at 60p.
Originally this 25p tape time code had been set in prest, record run,so I went to the TC menu, selected regen, put the tape back in and hit the return button. The regenerated time code did come up during the rewind of return, but then went back to the 60p tape TC.
With Sony camera,s there is a regen switch on the side panel, putting this to regen and hitting return has always worked,so Iam mystified as how to do the same thing with the varicam?

    Thanks

    Redflag,

Varicam always record timecode based on 60 frame recording regardless of what the camera has been set to (ie 24,25 or 60p etc). Actual timebase is 29.97.

FYI you never want to mix timecode frame rates on the same tape back to back which could occur on a Sony camcorder to avoid post issues later (ie record at 25P then switch to 60i).

    Hi Tony

Thanks for your message.I think I didnt write my initial message clearly.

I know that info you kindly gave…my basic question is how do you regenerate the TC,in the case of reloading a tape that you have already shot some material.

For example in my case, keeping the slo mo shots on a seperate tape, and then going back to a previously
    tape.

    Thanks again
