VariCam H white shading Pro35
Anybody run into this with the H series while doing a white shading?
I was white shading for a Pro35 today with an H series VariCam, and instead of the usual “WSHD OK” message, it gave me “V.SAW:END” instead. I could intentionally make it fail to see the difference between a failed white shading and the “V.SAW:END” version. I’m convinced that the white shading is working properly, but I’m puzzled as to why no “WSHD OK” message, which I’m used to. Is this an H series thing?
Second oddity. After white shading three lenses and saving the lens files in the camera’s memory, I reread a scene file which had also been saved in the camera’s memory, under the “initialize” menu. Reading this internal scene file wiped out the lens files in the camera’s memory. Huh? Why would ANYTHING wipe out a lens file in the camera’s memory (other than a replacment lens file)?
Tested this over and over again. I had written the lens files to a SD card (you can do that now with the H series – up to eight lens files per card), so they weren’t lost – I could reload them from the card. But that makes no sense to me – how reading an internal scene file could wipe out the internal lens files.
Anybody run into these two things before? Bugs of the H? Or VariCam gone bad?
