I just captured raw Varicam footage into FCP at 24P through firewire. Footage looks great.

I’m cutting a 30 second spot (obviously will be 29.97) and want to output the final edit to the highest quality for final outside colour correction session. What is the recommended workflow for this?

A friend of mine has a KONA card/HD system. Should I just finish my offline the regular way on my FCP system and then recapture the original footage through my friend’s Kona card/uncompressed?

What should I take to the colour correct session? I want the best quality I can get. Should I just output my DVCPro100/uncorrected edit to a full quality Quicktime? Use a particular codec?

    Thanks!

What will they take as a delivery master? There should be no reason to recapture the footage, as capturing at the DVCPRO HD setting via firewire is the best you are gonna get, and the Kona card can upconvert it to 8-bit or 10-bit HD on the fly. Output a master tape in the recommended format (D5, HDCAM) and then take that tape to a color correction facility. Or better yet, ASK THEM what they take. Always talk with the people involved, ask what they expect of you as a deliverable.
