  Panasonic HD at NAB

  Hello All,

  As many of you know I travel extensively around the country visiting many local and national trade shows and meeting many of you in person. Right now most everyone has their sights set on NAB and wondering what is in store from Panasonic. The most often asked question of me is, “will there be a new VariCam at NAB this year?”

  I am happy to say that there will be no new VariCam camera or VariCam software at the 2006 NAB. Due to the tremendous popularity of the cameras and the fact we wanted to help protect the investment made by our customers, we felt it important to stay the course with the existing AJ-HDC27H and the previous version, 27F. So those of you “on the fence” about a VariCam purchase may want to consider the opportunity to take advantage of the rebate offer that applies to certain DVCPRO HD purchases through March 31, 2006. Of course we will showcase many new and innovative products at NAB and we invite you to come and take a look as well as watch the trade press for product announcements.

  Also many have posted that they typically shoot VariCam, post on FCP HD, and then master to D-5 HD for delivery. I’m also pleased to say that the Panasonic AJ-HD3700B, D-5 HD is currently enjoying a greater popularity than ever and our increased sales show that. We will continue to make the D-5 HD available for many years to come. To this point, Panasonic will be unvailing a new option for very high end production and post production at the Hollywood Post Alliance (HPA) technology retreat later this month in Palm Springs, California.

  So two of the most popular HD products from Panasonic will be around for quite a while and I hope you continue to enjoy success with these tools.
