Hello, I would like some learned opinion on a project I was involved in planning recently. The intention was to shoot Varicam. Most of the locations are US but post will be carried out in the UK (‘PAL-land’). The delivery masters are as follows:

    1. 720p 29.97fps HD-D5 master to major US broadcaster
    2. 720p 29.97fps HD-D5 master to separate major US broadcaster
    3. 25fps SD digibeta master to major UK broadcaster

Although there was heavy lobbying for using Varicam at either 29.97 or 23.98 it was ultimately decided to shoot 25fps on Sony 750 and particular segments on Cinealta 900, again at 25fps. There was a huge variety of contrasting opinion on all this from various involved parties – but does it make sense? I’d be most interested to hear from some Varicam aficionado’s on the forum as the quality of advice here is always very high.

    Thanks in advance.
