Just got a new Imac G5 and could potentially be using AJ HD 1200A, but I was told that you might need an external PCI card. I am fairly certain the Imac is self contained and cannot receive anything like this. Can I get confirmation on this? Is there any way I am going to be able to use this deck with my machine?

Since you cannot add an other FW port to the machine and the 1200 deck will take the entire bandwidth for the HD stream – this is a really bad idea. You will not have enough horsepower to handle what you are trying to do.
The iMac is not a machine for HD work.
IMHO this is not a good idea.
