  VariCam VTR Main Menu from EC3?

  Looking for a reminder from any of you VariCam owners . . .

  Can I get to the VTR Main Menu from the EC3 paintbox? Or do I have to unplug and do the roundabout trick of holding the MENU button for 3 sec, toggle the JOG button at least once, then press the MENU button again one more time to get to the VTR Main Menu?

  Jay,

  That’s right; the VTR menus are only accessable at the camera head, not from the ECU. The settings made on these menys rmain with the camera and do not change with the various File written and read from the memory card.

  Thanks John, this is what I thought, but was hoping I was wrong. I understand that those settings want to live with the camera, but it would still be nice to get to through the paintbox so that I don’t have to kick the DP off the dolly at the top of the day, just to make sure the audio settings and time code are where they’re supposed to be 😉

  Jay,

  The best time to check the vtr and camera menus during or just after the load in. Grab the camera before it gets mounted onto the dolly or tripod as this is valuable and necessary tech time to QC the camera.
