  Panasonic DVX100A Compatible with 2013 21.5″ iMac ?

  I have seen a lot of fuzzy debate on this. I have recently obtained a Panasonic DVX100A camcorder and a 2013 iMac desktop. I have shot some footage and am now looking to download the footage so I can edit it on Final Cut Pro. I am waiting to purchase or download FCP until I know if and how this camera is compatible with my computer. I would like to know if anybody has tried with these same machines, and the best way to accomplish a smooth transition is, including how they connected the firewire of the DVX100A into the thunderbolt port of the Mac and any other helpful hints. What is problematic? And what steps should I take to avoid these potential problems?
