I am hand drawing and then scanning pictures into after effects, then auto-tracing them so i can reveal them using stroke. However i have an issue i cant seem to solve. The stroke reveals the outline of the picture, not the original fill…i guess thats to do with the masks auottrace has created. For example when i attempt to reveal a stick man it will instead reveal the outline of a stickman-i hope you get the picture?! Any help please?

Auto trace traces the boundaries of an image, Where the pixels actually change value. It has no clue what you have draw and how to re-draw it.

You have to either do that mask manually or use the scribble effect to use the masks you got from auto trace and get the fill stroked in a semi automated way.

I can expand on that if you’d like, but first check the effect out.
