what to do with warning (red x on camera screen)
Hi all
we were in the middle of a shoot when this scary little red circle with an X in the middle kept flashing on the built in monitor. Quick read tells me the cylinder is dirty. I’m intuiting that means the heads are dirty.
We’ve logged quite a lot of use on the camera. Treat it with baby gloves. ALWAYS use MQ Panasonic tapes.
NEVER ff & RW tapes in camera.
THE QUESTION(s):
1. Is this to be expected?
2. Is the only way to deal with this running a head cleaning tape (also Panasonic)?
3. Does this usually take care of the problem?
4. What to do if this recurrs with more frequency?
We’re a single camera operation, so it’s critical for the camera to be 100% functional. Any suggestions GREATLY appreciated.Many thanks,

You should be running a head cleaner at least once a month, or even weekly if the camera gets a lot of use. If that doesn’t fix the problem- have it professionally cleaned. Shouldn’t cost more than $100.

I completely forgot about the head cleaning maintenance schedule…
Is there a “best head cleaning tape” out there or should I just stick to the one Panasonic one I have?
Also, would you have any idea how to pick a local shop (San Francisco) to do a professional cleaning job?

Hmm- I don’t know of a place in SF that can do it though I’m sure it exists. Try looking up Panasonic dealers in the the area. And yeah the panasonic head cleaner should do the trick.
