Follow Up
After comparing the specs of the new MacBook Pro 15″ to the older 17″, I saw that there was only one firewire port on the 15″ MB. If I get an external FW raid and get the 15″ MB should that work out okay? Does the additional FW make going to the 17″ mandatory? Thanks.

Another thing about the workflow of the HMC-150. By using the USB 2.0 port for transfer, can an external drive be set-up to transfer the footage to and work from for FCP? Maybe one FW port might work. I still like the matte screens, not glossy. Thanks.

I just got a Sandisk Expresscard SDHC reader which lets you download right off the cards really fast and frees up the Firewire and USB ports entirely. I’d go that way:

I also just got PNY 8GB Class 4 SDHC cards for $29 at Best Buy- hour for hour that makes it almost as cheap as tape now as write-once media! Wow.
