I recently picked up a brand new Anton Bauer ProPac 14 battery at an unclaimed freight store for a very reasonable price (under $45). I’m wondering: could modify it for use on my DVX100A or Canon XH A1?

Also, would anyone have any ideas on a reasonably priced charger? When I was a television photographer, I seem to remember us having small backup chargers that were basically just a plate and a power adapter that plugged into an outlet.

Try giving a call to Abel Cine Tech or B&H in New York and ask for an adapter. It sounds somewhat familiar that such a product exists. Personally I’d stick with the Panasonic batteries. There are one’s that last all day practically and a lot easier to handle.

I’m not aware of a specific adaptor, but Noah says there may be one so I would invest time in trying to track it down as A/B products are very good.

Having said that, you may want to be very careful about what kind of charger you get. A/B products are expensive because they work and they last. The chargers are fairly sophisticated (as chargers go) and are designed to interpret the battery’s condition and charge accordingly.

Personally, I’d be hesitant to do as you are suggesting with a non-A/B charger.

A/B makes a 7/14 Gold Mount Adapter. There are specific adapters for each camera. The DVX-100 uses the A/B QR-DVX.

    Check them out here.

I have one that fits on a PD-170.
