Red rock micro users….Questions….
I’ve been given a budget of $6300 to buy more video equipment. I mostly do local SD TV. (cooking shows, music video shows, 30 min political QA stuff)
I think I am going to get a pana dvx100 and a red rock m2 unit. This will allow me to do what “they” want and also I can shoot what “I” want. (shorts) The footage I’ve seen from this combo is great and I’ve heard nothing but good about the camera.
My (first) question is about the glass on the front….. I’ve read people saying…I use a 55 for this shot and an 85 for that shot, but does anybody use a lens like a 35-150mm? It seems to me that this would save you from buying several lens’ but I’m sure I’m missing something here cause every body would be doing this if there wasn’t i bad reason for it????? What’s the down side of this? These type lens’ lose too much light??2nd question…Whats the purpose of the red rock follow focus? Just a quick way to mark and adjust focus for stuff like racking? Is it really that hard to just grab the focus ring on the lens or am I missing something on this too?
Now that I’ve given everyone the impression that I know nothing about the glass on the front… Please respond to the above questions in laymans terms because….well…OK…..I actually don’t know anything about the glass on the front.
TIA
Chris
