I’m pretty sure I have persistant playback problem that head cleaning tape doesn’t fix. Occasionally I get the horizontal “sliced” image, but usually it’s blue screen, the TC doesn’t move, nothing in eyepiece or on Sony monitor and no sound. It records fine because tape will play on other miniDV cameras. I use Panasonic Mastering tape (AY-DVM63PQ). Any ideas on either how to effectively clean the playback heads or could it be something else?

Have you tried looking at the output on different spicket (S-Video or Firewire)?

If you’ve tried tape-cleaning the head and still no luck, but it records OK, then perhaps I’m stating the obvious, but send it in for servicing.

The DV transporttape path is so small/delicate, you may do more harm than good in trying to clean the heads manually.

    Good Luck,
