i’m shooting a dance performance with DVX100A. Any help on settings/scene files would be appreciated: 30P v. 60i, Gamma, Scene file, shutter speed?

Since it’s theatrical, there’re lighting extremes. bright white spots, dark scenes lit red. moody blues. I shot one performance 30P cinelike gamma, shifting between 0dB, 3dB and 12dB gain. with 12dB in the dark red scenes you can see the dancers, but there’s heaps of color bleed and chunkiness.

I love the look of 30P normally, but is 60i better for these circumstances?

    thanks in advance

Gain is not good to use unless in case of emergency. Perhaps there’s a way you can coordinate to get some more usable lighting for the performance? This is always a possibility if you’re creating a video for the dancers.
