Is there a firestore hard drive that works with the DVX 100 in 24p? I heard that you should set the drive to slave and then use a tape to activate the drive. Is this still protacol? or is there another or a more recent develpment for direct drives via firewire?
    thankyou,

There’s no drives that work in native 24p but any of the many drives out there like Firestore, Citidisk, etc will record the 29.97 DV NTSC signal that’s coming out of the DVX100 in 24p mode.

    Thanx Noah,
Is there any issues that I shoud be aware of using these drives? Such as…hitting the rercord button and not having any time delay and other things of this nature.

Not sure what you mean- most of them are pretty much idiot proof. But I also recommend running tape at the same time as a backup. These are useful for quicker editing and for longer than hour recording runs but they are also hard drives- susceptible to failure etc.
