condensation buildup
This forum has provided me with great help so far; so I’ll send out another one to you all.
I’m using the DVX100 to record kayaking on the river. I’ve got a tight, functional dry bag system, but after a test run this weekend, it seems the camera still has problems with condensation buildup (despite filming in the driest spots on the river and with great care). When I tried to run playback at home, there was tons of mosaic noise, and this hung around for days until the camera/tape dried out sufficiently. I can’t tell if it was the camera that was wet or the tape. The tape would play find on other camera’s and still show noise on mine, but then when I tried filming on a different tape in my 100, it filmed and ran playback just fine. This confuses me, but my real question is this: is the 100 too sensitive to be using on the river, where it stand to be repeatedly exposed to the condensation problem? And if I continue using it, what’s the best way to manage this problem, i.e. how to dry it out? I know to not use it while it’s got moisture inside, but a friend told me he sets his cheapo camcorder in a car on a sunny day for a while, and this sound sketchy to me. Other suggestions? And can anyone tell if the problem lies in wetness on the tape or the camera? I’ve gone on too long, but thank you for taking the time. Ya’ll are always helpful. -Chris G.
