Hello, I’m in the middle of a shoot that needs to get done in the next couple days and I’m starting to have extremely wierd timecode issues. I shot a tape today. Looked at it a little bit in the camera to make sure it wasnt screwed up, and re-wound it to the beginning. The time code on the top was running through fine durring rewinding. I started capturing and about 15 minutes into it it started glitching and froze. My DVX had the time frozen with a blue screen with the TC* showing. I can go to the begginning of the tape and capture through 15 or 20 minutes. It freezes at different times. If I start at the begginning and fast forward to even 10 minutes, it shows the TC error. Anybody know what is going on? Could it be my capturing. Im capturing onto an external HD using vegas 6. It’s like the tape gets more and more corrupted. This happened to me yesterday with a different tape, so it’s not that. I need help quick!

The heads are dirty. Use a head cleaner. If that doesn’t help, carefully blow out the tape assembly with canned air and head clean again. If that doesn’t work you need to have the camera serviced. Using it as a feeder deck will make this happen more often as will mixing tape brands.

Thanks. I thought it might be a dirty head. I used a little sony minidv camcorder to capture the footage I had and it worked great.
