I’ve had 2 DVX100a’s for a little over a year and a half. I love the cameras, I shoot in 24p exclusivley and capture off a DSR-45 dvcam deck. Recently however I am interested in the benifits of 24p dvds and the added drive space of 24p capture. If I shoot in the advance mode on the DVX, will my DSR-45 read the flags or markers embedded in the DVX footy? Or do I need t use the DVX as the capture device?

Upon recording back to tape of a 24p timeline, does FCP recreate the 24p process that the DVX does when recording? Or does the edit ONLY stay 24p on the timeline and uon export of a 24p quicktimefilm and DVD encode? Wonderng!

Just about any deck that works with FCP will read the pulldown flags- I’m assuming the Sony will too. During playback out to tape FCP does a realtime 3:2 pulldown similar to how the camera does it. 24p can exist natively in the computer and on 24p DVDs. On DV tape it’s always 29.97 via the pulldown.
