  • Does 24P remain intact through live switching and streaming?

I’m thinking of a scenario using 3 DVX100A’s set in “non-advanced” 24P mode for live switching. They would have their signals fed over composite cables, to a switcher. Here’s some questions for you:

    1) If the output of the switcher was recorded to a DV deck, would the switched signal retain the 24P signal? Is there some possibility of problems with a non genlocked “frame sync” cheap switcher? Do you have to cut “on the first field” or something like that?

    2) Assuming that the 24P signal did make it through intact, does anyone know if an overhead projector that claims “pull-down removal” would be able to fish the 24P signal out of the switched 60i composite signal and display it on-screen in a progressive manner?

    3) Does anyone know if Quicktime Broadcaster can do the same thing? i.e.-Pull the 24P signal out of 60i and stream it over the net as 24P?

I know that’s a lot of “What if…..” scenarios, and I’ll understand if no one can answer it, but I’m curious. Thanks for any help you generous, wise, experienced and good lookin folks can supply.

TV is called a medium, because it is neither rare, nor well done (He..he…)

Dont know on the projector and QT broadcaster. But you’d be able to live switch it as with any other 60i signal and retain the film look.
