when i tried to set a new timecode for a new dv tape (the second that i’ve used on my dvx 100 a) i started the code at 01:00:00:00. i striped the tape, and when it ended it read 02:02:35:13. however, when i rewound the tape, the timecode was still at the terminal end- 02:02…. please tell me what i did wrong, as the owner’s manual is a little hard to understand. also, is it a mistake for me to shoot mixed footage – 30p and 24p with respect to the timecode? will this create more issues? thank you very much

Sounds like you have TC PRESET on instead of TC REGEN. Preset uses the setting in the current menu system to generate the timecode, whereas TC REGEN picks up the timecode off of the tape.

You can put 30p, 24p, and 60i footage all on the same tape if you want. You cannot switch frame rates while shooting, you have to pause before you can change the frame rate. Whether your editing program supports different timebase files in the same project is another question.
