  “Darkness” question

  I have viewed many, many stills, videos, composites, etc. that have been shot with the DVX100. Many look really, really good but I have noticed one consistent element…most of these images tend to be a bit “grey” or “dark”…especially in the colors. Is this an accurate observation of the DVX100? I know lighting is critical, but does the “film look” this camera provides necessitate a darker color pallet?

  The color palette can be pretty much anything you want it to be. As an example, here’s a composite shot I did where I set out to emulate a dozen of the Magic Bullet Movie Looks, using only the in-camera settings:

  All of those were done with in-camera settings, no post-processing whatsoever. So the color can be whatever you want it to be.
