panasonic ag ac90 separate audio channels
Hello,
I’m trying to figure out the details of the panasonic ag ac90 separate audio channels and how they act. It appears that I can’t actively live switch between these channels without having to STOP the recording and flick the switch to which channel combo you’d like. Anyone else have experience with this? It’s driving me batty??

The manual should explain how the audio works on your AVCHD cam. Page 46 is where you will find it.

thanks for your reply. I am one who actually does read the manual. I should have mentioned that. I’m looking for the specific answer to whether I am able to live switch using the channel selector switch. It appears that the channels won’t switch unless I stop recording , change channel switch and then start recording again.

Hi,
While fully believe you cannot switch between the channels with the switch as the camera would think that that was a mistake and thus will not allow it. My question is why do you want to do that? Perhaps there is another method.

Here’s the scenario:
input 1 – xklr from wireless mic receiver
input 2: xlr from shotgun mic
I need to switch between channel 1 and channel 2 A LOT when I am recording a speaker and there are questions from the audience. I have the speaker’s wireless mic receiver’s xlr going into channel 2… when he’s speaker: i set the channel switch to Channel 2 input so I get his crisp clear audio from the lav on BOTH channels. When there is a question from the audience, I need to switch (live-without stopping the recording, obviously) to allow the channel to chan 1 so I can get the question from my shotgun mic that is directed at the audienceI’ve been recording this way for the past 20 yrs or so, most recently on my panasonic dvx100 and it is a very simple-bare-bones-straight-forward solution to gathering good audio from a lecture/audience situation…and I don’t think I’m able to do it with the AG-AC90… which makes me regret purchasing it… unless there is an answer that I don’t know about yet…nor have a had a chance to do a thorough test…the old workin’ man’s catch-22… anyway, thanks for any tips or suggestions from anyone else out there.

Do these videos get edited after shooting? If so, why not simply record your wireless on channel one and your shotgun on channel two and use the appropriate track when editing. Otherwise, can you use a small mixer to switch between the channels on the fly?
