Help. Every good post starts with that word…

I just got a new laptop for work, Dell Latitude E6420. It has a pci slot, just like my old D630, which I would used for P2 viewing with P2 Viewer. Worked just fine. Used XP on the old one.

Now, I have loaded the P2 Viewer, Content Management, and Drivers on the new, and it won’t recognize the cards. Followed the instructions to no avail. Anyone give me any advice?

    Thanks,
    Scott

I’m Guessing you have Windows 7 on your new computer, and E series cards. I had similar problems when I went from XP to W7. W7 won’t recongnize my E series cards. My R series are fine. Here is what the Panny tech support told me. It’s a bit clunky, but it works.

Open Device manager (I keep a shortcut on my desktop now)
Right click on any item (doesn’t matter what)
click on “Scan for Hardware Changes”

It should recognize the card after the scan. Occasionally I have to try a few times, but it usually works right away.

    Good luck

I’d heard that the E series would be problematic, and I have been using only the R series for this… Thanks for the advice. Will try that.

Last question for you, Joel- Which drivers did you install to use the pci port?

    Thanks,
    Scott

Not actually sure. I haven’t changed anything in a while, and if it ain’t broke I try not to fix it. 🙂

Whatever was the latest on the Panny site at the time. I remember trying both the 32 bit, and the 64, but don’t remember where I settled.

    Sorry.
