SDI out to Log and Capture
We have a Mac Pro with a BlackMagic Studio Decklink with SD/HD SDI in and out ports. How do I get Final Cut to recognize the camera?
I have an SDI cable running to the card but FCP doesn’t see anything. I have tried different cables, double checked to make sure it’s the right port, have SDI out turned ON on the HPX.

Through your Decklink control panel. You need to set your input to HD SDI. If all is set correctly, FCP log and capture will see the camera.

Just checked it, it’s already set to SDI Video and SDI Audio, the only other SDI options for input are SDI video and AES audio or Analog XLR Audio.
Input processing is off bc I’m not downscaling or upscaling.
In FCP, AV Settings, Capture Preset is at BlackMagic HDTV 1080p 23.98 10 bit RGB 4:4:4, Device Control Preset is at BM HDTV 1080p 23.98.
Is it not working bc the HPX outputs 1080i not 1080p?
What settings should the playback and capture presets be? Trying to get least compressed signal fr green screen shoot.The SDI 1080i output is enabled on the camera.
Do I need to be in a certain mode like playback to capture live footage to FCP?Brandon Morris

Make sure they match.
Camera Settings and your capture settings.
Turn device control off.
Have camera on and plugged in before you launch FCP.Chris Tompkins

Does the HPX output uncompressed?
If it doesn’t, what’s the best codec to capture at for green screen footage?
The flew clips we got were captured at BlackMagic HD 1080p 10bit RGB 4:4:4, but when played back in FCP, it’s jittery.Brandon Morris

You have not posted which camera you have.
Jittery playback can be the result of many things.
What hard drives/raid are you using?Chris Tompkins

It will work if your camera and capture settings are identical. I tested on my system with the MXO 2.
Not all frame rates are supported.
