  P2 Asset Management

  We are converting to a nearly 100% P2 HD workflow. As we face an hour long P2 HD project we are thinking about how to manage hours of P2 content. So many issues to consider including archive, log, SD client copies, Blu-ray backup and so on. We are looking for a reasonably priced PC based software / hardware solution to bring order to all of these different challenges. How have you faced this challenge ?

  P2 and FCP on a Mac is flawless. Hard drives are at an all time low.

  Switching to tapeless is a little unnerving at first. Don’t worry.

  Download free software from Panasonic. PSCMS.

  Use this to offload cards to the computer. It verifies.

  Make 2 copies of it.

  These are your master tape reels in a sense.
  When the edit is done. Delete the Mov files.
  Keep the P2 files forever on hard drives.
