how to shoot for 3 screens
Hey everyone! Hope everything is great.
I was wondering, I have an HPX500, I’m trying to do some tests and really failing at how to shoot for 3 screens. What I mean is that there will be amphitheater, 3 different screens will be set up and I would like to get one shot to come out on all 3 screens. Not the same shot on all three screens, but the one shot across all 3 screens. I keep failing, does anyone have an idea how to go about doing so? ANy help is of course nothing but greatly appreciated.

I would find the aspect ration of the 3 screens combined. Lets say each it 1920×1080, so the total is 5760×1080 or 1920x 360. I would mark my viewfinder with tape that covers A third of the height of the image from the top and the bottom, leaving the middle 3rd (360 pixels) this is the image that would fit into 3 screens. Your camera is fixed to 1920×1080 so you have to shoot that, you just have to worry about your framing.

If you have AfterFX you can model what Michael suggests by creating a composition that is 5760×1080. Import some footage from the 500 and increase the size until it fills the composition. This will also give you an idea of what quality issues you may have by up-sizing the image. You might consider using a Ki Pro or Nano to record at a higher quality level with full raster. DVCPro HD is thin raster (anamorphic).
