  AE makes computer TOO slow and crashes

  Hi All –
  I am doing some warp stabilization on my macbook pro, or at least trying, but when I apply the warp stabilization filter and it starts analyzing, my computer pretty much becomes unusable and most of the time after effects slows down to a crawl and crashes.

  I know the laptop won’t be as fast as my macpro, but this slow?

  is there anything I can do to, at least, make it usable. taking a long time to do something is one thing, but making the laptop unusable (even within AE) when it’s analyzing is another.

  – I am not running any other software when doing this.
  – It’s Gopro footage
  – Macbook pro 15″

  2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
  Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
  4GB 1600MHz memory
  750GB 7200-rpm hard drive1
  Intel HD Graphics 4000
  NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 512MB of GDDR5 memory

  I mistyped – I have 8gb of memory on the laptop.
  I wish there was a way that I could tell AE to only use what it can without using so much that it crashes the system

  Well, it’s not supposed to grab more than it can…

  Have you installed all the updates for your version of Ae? (You can check for updates under the help menu.) If you have, and if you can reproduce the problem, I’d consider filing a bug [link].

  In Preferences > Memory & Multiprocessing, what amount of RAM do you have reserved for other applications?
