trying to offload P2 files on my Mac through USB out of camera
Hey guys,
I’m trying to input P2 files on my macbook pro through the USB output on my HPX500. i can see the files on my computer. do i need to download any software to make them play? i do not want to firewire into final cut. i’d rather offload on to my computer and then transfer to an external hard drive and give to a friend.

Read your manual for Firewire device connect- USB will take you just slightly less time than forever. You want to copy over the entire contents of the card and back them up before FCP even gets into the mix.

To VIEW them, after you download? Yes. P2CMS is free, and allows you to view them. Other options are paid.
And yes, USB can take forever…the firewire connection is faster. And copy the ENTIRE card contents…everything. Best if you used software to do this, like Shotput Pro, by https://www.imagineproducts.com. It does this for you, and verifies the data as it copies. If you have this camera, this software is pretty much a requirement.
