How to convert MXF to MPEG2 files?
I have a three day job starting Monday where I shoot SD during the day and a foreign edit house has requested I upload the files encoded to MPEG2 on the hotel’s internet. They requested the files in the 150-300MB range.
Can anyone tell me how to do this conversion? I have a Mac laptop that I use for P2 downloading and tech checking and would rather not bring all the footage into FCP for a conversion. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

MPEG-2 I’m assuming they want viewing only. Must be done through Compressor or you would buy one of the MXF importers like Raylight or Calibrated so you could export directly to Compressor and skip FCP. Personally I’d just go through FCP and bite the bullet- but charge for your time. That’s a weird and time-consuming deliverable they want.

If this is for them viewing, check out Imagine products, ProxyMill. This will create h.264 or mpeg 4 files from MXF.
We have to hook up one day.
